Bill Would Cut Training Requirement for Agents and Brokers

A California lawmaker introduced legislation that would nearly cut in half the duration of training that agents and brokers must complete to receive a license. Assemblymember Michelle Rodriguez, D-Chino, on Wednesday introduced SB 943, which would require 12 hours of study instead of 20 hours. The bill would require 12 hours of study on ethics and the Insurance Code, and it would maintain a provision added in 2023 requiring that one of the 12 hours of study be dedicated to insurance fraud.
