The Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission on Thursday will re-implement the variance notification process to inform stakeholders when there has been an underpayment of benefits.
Should a file audit reveal an underpayment of $50 or more, the commission will notify the injured worker and claims administrator by letter.
The agency sent out a sample letter on June 5 and said that, should there be an underpayment, both parties should review their records for possible discrepancies and contact the insurer for resolution.
