While most of the United States is in the midst of historic declines in workers' compensation loss costs, the U.S. Virgin Islands is now facing four years of higher rates, according to the Islands' Department of Finance.
The department's latest Manual of Classification and Basic Rates shows that rates for this year and through 2023 will see a steady increase for most classifications. The aircraft flying crew classification, for example, will see rates rise from $5 per $100 of payroll in 2019 to $6 this year, followed by $6.75 in 2021, $7.45 in 2022 and $8.12 in 2023....
