New York comp watchers have hinted for months that lawmakers were preparing legislation that would revamp the workers' compensation system and fix a number of problems that have cropped up since reform laws were adopted in 2007 and 2017.
That bill, A 7045, has now been filed, and it's a doozy: 31 pages that would make changes to processes for disputing medical fees and how attorney fees are calculated; revise how the Workers' Compensation Board handles hearings and treatment guidelines; and increase benefits for injured workers.
