OSHA Cites Contractor for Trench Collapse

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined a contractor in Frisco $107,228 for repeatedly exposing workers to trench hazards. Bandera Utility Contractors sent workers into unprotected trenches without providing a way to get out in case of a cave-in, the agency said. OSHA said it opened an investigation into Bandera in July after receiving a complaint and observing employees working on water and sewer lines in a trench that lacked an adequate protective system.
