Fee Schedules Reduce Payments for Hospital Outpatient Surgeries, WCRI Finds

States without a workers’ compensation fee schedule generally paid more for hospital outpatient surgeries, according to a new report, but of five reimbursement models studied, the lack of a fee schedule wasn’t necessarily the worst. Alabama and Louisiana, states that paid for hospital outpatient surgeries based on a percentage of charges, paid the most among 35 states included in the study by the Workers Compensation Research Institute.
