The South Dakota Legislature last week passed a bill that will increase the maximum application fee for employers who wish to self-insure, from $2,000 to a maximum of $2,250.
The state Senate voted 29-5 on Wednesday to pass House Bill 1029 by the House Committee on Commerce and Energy. Senate President Brock L. Greenfield signed the bill on Friday, sending it along to Gov. Dennis Daugaard.
The bill allows the Department of Labor and Regulation to set the fee up to a maximum of $2,500, but does require the fee to be set at that amount.
HB 1029 also amends a regulation, ARSD 47:03:02:01...
