The owner of a dry cleaner in Olympia must pay more than $21,000 in restitution after admitting to stealing workers’ compensation benefits, the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries announced.
Byung Sung Kang, 54, on Wednesday pleaded guilty to third-degree theft, a gross misdemeanor.
The department said Kang received work comp benefits for more than 14 months when he claimed his work injury was so severe that it prevented him from working.
Kang injured his back in the summer of 2015 while working at a dry cleaning business he co-owned.
