The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued $270,000 in fines for workplace safety violations in an Ohio battery manufacturing facility operating under a joint partnership between General Motors and LG Energy Solution.
OSHA said it identified 19 violations after opening four separate inspections at Ultium Cells LLC in Warren following a fire and explosion in March.
OSHA said inspectors found Ultium failed to install required machine guarding, coordinate emergency responses, train workers or provide information about risks of hazardous chemicals used in the workplace.
