Texas lawmakers voted to send the governor bills that would allow remote contested case hearings, eliminate group self-insurance coverage and govern the use of artificial intelligence in claims handling.
Lawmakers on Saturday sent the governor HB 2488, by Rep. Keith Bell, R-Athens, which would allow the DWC to conduct contested case hearings by videoconference if both parties agree and the agency determines good cause exists.
The Senate voted 30-1 to pass the bill May 27, while the state House of Representatives voted 145-0 to pass it April 23.
