Some 15 years after a group of board members first discussed a plan to turn a South Carolina home builders’ self-insurance fund into a mutual insurance company, plaintiffs in a long-simmering lawsuit hope they will finally get to the bottom of what went wrong.
“Now we can make them give us the documents we need, and give depositions, and, hopefully, pay the people what they’re due,” said Ward Bradley, attorney for the plaintiffs, a group of home builders who contend they were never fully informed about a plan to take $5 million out of the self-insured fund.
