The California Workers' Compensation Institute says November will likely have the most COVID-19 claims of any month since the pandemic began as the virus continues to spread unabated across some parts of the state.
CWCI on Friday issued a bulletin reporting 10,305 COVID-19 claims were filed in November, more than double the 4,628 claims filed in October. CWCI projects 17,312 claims will ultimately be filed in November, about 11.8% more compared to the projected 15,489 claims for July.
About 25% of all workers' comp claims filed in November were for COVID-19, according to CWCI.
