A bill introduced ahead of the legislative session that starts Wednesday would require employers to issue a decision on medical treatment requests within 45 calendar days.
The 45-day period for deciding liability for medical treatment under House Bill 1749, by Del. N. Baxter Ennis, R-Chesapeake, would not apply in cases where there are documented complications in obtaining or interpreting necessary medical information or if the nature of the injured worker's condition requires extended evaluation to determine appropriate treatment.
