New Maximum Weekly Rate Announced

A new maximum weekly compensation rate in South Carolina was set at a business meeting Tuesday of the state's Workers' Compensation Commission. The new rate -- two thirds of the average weekly wage in the year ending June 2015 -- is $784.03, an increase of just under $18. During the meeting, the commission also approved applications to self-insure from 22 employers, members of two funds.
