Workers have filed more than 50,000 claims alleging occupational exposure to the new coronavirus since January, with employers denying liability on less than a third of those, according to data the California Workers’ Compensation Institute posted to its website.
CWCI’s COVID-19 data page shows 50,592 comp claims for COVID-19 were filed between January and Nov. 2. Of those, 14,985 — 29.6% — have been denied, CWCI’s data shows.
