A group of retired National Football League players have filed suit against the league, alleging they were given narcotics and other painkillers without prescriptions and without any warning about the side effects, in an effort to maximize profits by returning injured players to the field, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.The AP said the suit was filed on behalf of eight named plaintiffs in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco and seeks class-action status to bring in other former players.
