Applicant Accused of Lying About Prior Injury Arrested on Fraud Charge

An applicant who is accused of hiding her pre-existing condition when pursuing her workers' compensation claim is charged with one count of workers' compensation fraud and one count of attempted perjury, the California Insurance Department said Thursday. Melissa Halsell of Pomona surrendered to Insurance Department detectives at the Pomona Police Department on Tuesday.
