Injured worker inpatient hospital stays fell 17.2% during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing the cumulative decline since 2010 to 47.2%, the California Workers’ Compensation Institute announced.
CWCI said data from the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development over the last 11 years consistently shows workers’ compensation accounting for the smallest share of hospital stays, ranging from 0.6% of discharges from 2010 to 2013 to 0.4% of discharges over each of the last four years.
