Lawmakers Announce Single-Payer Proposal

A group of California lawmakers on Friday announced the introduction of a bill that would create some type of single-payer health care system but provided few details about what the proposal would look like. Assemblyman Ash Kalra, D-San Jose, on Friday announced the introduction of AB 1400. The bill, called the California Guaranteed Health Care for All Act, is sponsored by the California Nurses Association, which also sponsored a single-payer proposal in 2017.
