Bills Address Causation, Traveling Employees, Medical Fees and Benefits

The Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission would be required to establish a new medical fee schedule and implement a closed drug formulary, under legislation introduced Monday. Other bills before lawmakers this year would create a significant causation standard for determining compensability, enumerate the conditions under which workers’ compensation would cover injuries a worker sustained while traveling, and eliminate the three-day waiting period for volunteer firefighters and paramedics to receive temporary total disability benefits.
