Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring announced that Richmond Drywall Installers Inc. pleaded guilty to felony embezzlement charges based on misclassifying employees as independent contractors.
As part of the plea agreements, the company will pay $21,000 in fines and restitution, including a $2,500 fine for each of the five felony counts of embezzlement.
The company was one of the first to face misclassification charges brought by the Attorney General’s Worker Protection Unit that was created earlier in 2021.
