Dr. Munir Uwaydah was arrested in Germany last week and is awaiting extradition to the U.S. to stand trial in a $150 million insurance fraud scheme that involved paying referral fees to applicants' attorneys, performing unnecessary surgeries and allowing an assistant who did not attend medical school to operate on 21 patients, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
