Judge Errs in Consolidating Worker's Civil Suit With Putative Employer's Appeal

A Texas appellate court ruled that a trial judge erred in consolidating a worker’s civil suit with his putative employer’s challenge to an administrative finding that the worker was not its employee. In September 2021, Romny Sanchez joined his uncle Leonel Yanez on a job providing remediation services to victims of Hurricane Ida in Louisiana. Yanez worked for All Repair and Restoration LLC.
