Out of hundreds of pieces of workers’ comp-related legislation considered this year, about one in eight bills pertained to first responders, according to the National Council on Compensation Insurance.
NCCI said in a report released Monday that it tracked about 814 state or federal bills this year related to workers’ comp. And of those, first responders were the subject of 103. The bills addressed compensability for certain cancers and other diseases occurring in first responders, and compensability for post traumatic stress disorder, NCCI said.
