Three residents of Orlando, Florida, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and tax fraud through a years-long scheme of avoiding workers' compensation coverage and vastly underreporting payroll.
Eduardo Anibal Escobar, Carlos Alberto Rodriguez and Adelmy Tejada each face a maximum of 20 years in federal prison for wire fraud and as many as five years for tax fraud, the Internal Revenue Service said. They are also required to forfeit $8.7 million and two houses that were purchased with ill-gotten proceeds.
