Two policy committees in the California Assembly on Wednesday will hear testimony on bills that would extend authorization to pay benefits by debit card, extend the COVID-19 presumption and close a loophole some employers are allegedly using to reduce their comp costs by classifying workers as temporary staffers.
The Assembly Labor and Employment Committee is scheduled to deliberate AB 2614, by Assemblyman Freddie Rodriguez, D-Chino, which would require a client employer to procure valid comp coverage for contracted workers independently of any coverage maintained by a labor contractor.
