Ambulatory Surgery Centers Added to Definition of Medical Facility

Indiana ambulatory surgery centers will be considered medical service facilities under recently enacted legislation. Gov. Eric Holcomb in March enacted House Bill 1153, which added ASCs to the definition of medical service facilities and requires they be paid at 200% of the Medicare rate. The ASC provision takes effect Jan. 1. Another provision in the bill increases benefits by 3% each year for four years, starting July 1, 2023.
