California Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law bills allowing carriers to use debit cards to pay workers’ compensation benefits, and giving cities and counties the option of providing benefits for police officers injured while outside the state.
Brown over the weekend also signed a bill addressing state agency obligation when handling information about suspected fraud and a measure preserving the extended deadline for families of police and firefighters to file claims for death benefits.
