Workers' compensation judges in Kansas would be able to keep their home addresses and other personal information off of public agency websites, under a bill the state House of Representatives approved last week.
House Bill 2096, by Rep. Fred Patton, R-Topeka, comes amid an increase in violence against judges nationwide. Advocates of the bill, including the Kansas Bar Association, have said that administrative law judges in the state have received several threats of violence, and Capitol police have investigated three instances.
