The California Workers’ Compensation Institute said its review of new geographic adjustment factors that were added to the Official Medical Fee Schedule in 2019 found no major change in where dollars are going.
CWCI also said that the geographic adjustment factors have not shifted billing to areas with higher reimbursements or caused rural providers to leave the system.
The Division of Workers’ Compensation adopted Medicare’s geographic adjustment factors covering 32 payment localities throughout California for services provided on or after Jan. 1, 2019.
