Rauner Urges Budget Compromise a Day After Calling for Defeat of 'Chicago Democratic Machine'

Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner on Sunday called on opposition Democrats to agree on bipartisan reforms and finally pass a state budget 11 months after the fiscal year began. The Chicago Tribune reports that Rauner held a rare Sunday news conference to ask Democrats, who control both chambers in the General Assembly, to compromise on such issues as workers’ compensation reform.
