A Virginia lawmaker on Wednesday introduced a measure that would allow self-insurance associations to merge.
House Bill 2418, by Del. William C. Wampler, R-Abingdon, would authorize the State Corporation Commission to establish criteria for mergers and approve the joining of two or more self-insurance associations.
The measure would require that any resulting group self-insurance pool must assume in full all obligations of the merged group.
HB 2418 is awaiting referral to committees in the state House of Representatives.
