California Gov. Jerry Brown will have one last opportunity before leaving office to prohibit what Democratic lawmakers call discriminatory apportionment practices, with the Legislature sending him two bills on the issue before the session ended Friday.
Lawmakers passed nine workers’ compensation bills this year, including measures that would allow counties to approve claims from police officers injured in the Las Vegas shooting, and require the Department of Industrial Relations to distribute $120 million in supplemental benefits each year, starting in 2020.
