Thirty-five percent of long-haul truck drivers who participated in a truck-stop survey have been in at least one crash during their careers, and 24% said they had experienced a near-miss in the previous week.
Those are some of the findings of a survey conducted by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. The results are published in this month’s edition of the journal Accident Analysis and Prevention.
NIOSH conducted the survey in 2010, interviewing 1,265 long-haul truck drivers at 32 truck stops across the U.S.
