Members of the Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation elected Mitch Steiger, a lobbyist for the California Labor Federation, to serve as chairman in 2022.
The California Senate selected Steiger to fill the vacancy on the CHSWC created when Angie Wei, legislative director for the California Labor Federation, joined the administration of Gov. Gavin Newsom as chief deputy cabinet secretary in 2019. The Senate Rules Committee reappointed Steiger in 2021.
