A hearing on a bill that would codify California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s COVID-19 presumption was delayed by two weeks.
The Assembly Insurance Committee will hear testimony on SB 1159, by Sen. Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo, during a hearing that starts at 10 a.m. Aug. 11. The committee was scheduled to hear testimony on the bill today.
The bill would add to the Labor Code a rebuttable presumption that COVID-19 is compensable for people who contracted the disease at work between March 19 and July 5. Language in the bill mirrors the presumption Newsom enacted through an executive order in May.
