California saw a 3.6% rise in nonfatal work injuries and illnesses in 2019, according to a bulletin from the California Workers’ Compensation Institute.
The increase, however, had almost no effect on the state’s on-the-job injury rate per 100 full-time employees because the state’s pre-COVID-pandemic employment numbers were at “record levels,” CWCI said.
The report was based on survey data released last month by the Department of Industrial Relations’ Office of Policy, Research and Legislation, CWCI said.
