Doctor Pleads Guilty to Comp Fraud Relating to Kickbacks

A Louisiana doctor pleaded guilty on Friday to fraud charges related to a scheme that overcharged the federal government and private carriers for unnecessary medications provided to workers’ compensation patients. Dr. Robert Dale Bernauer Sr., 74, pleaded guilty to one count each of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, wire fraud, health care fraud, defrauding the federal comp program and accepting kickbacks.
