A New York appellate court upheld an award of damages to an asbestos abatement worker for his injuries from a fall from a scaffold. Case: Joe v. State of New York, No. 532176, 03/03/2022, published. Facts: Byung Choon Joe was injured on July 24, 2013, when he fell approximately 6 feet from a scaffold while removing asbestos at the Harriman State Office Campus in Albany. Procedural history: Joe filed suit against the State of New York, and the Court of Claims granted summary judgment in his favor on the issue of liability.
