Physicians in Colorado will soon face stricter limits on their dispensing of opioids to injured workers, in the latest example of states taking aim at a major cost driver in workers’ comp pharmacy.
Under the Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation’s updated fee schedule, which takes effect on Jan. 1, physician dispensing of Schedule II or Schedule III opioids will be limited to a seven-day supply, compared to the current 30-day supply limit.
