In a move that has surprised some, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt on Tuesday asked the state Supreme Court to review an appeals court ruling that threw out the latest version of the impairment guidelines.
The petition is risky for employers, some claimants' attorneys have said, because it opens the door for the high court to strike down the state's entire workers' compensation law, or at least allow injured workers to sue employers in civil court.
