Nearly 85% of the 20,863 workers’ compensation claims for COVID-19 in Minnesota were filed by those covered by a presumption that the disease is compensable, with 74% of claims coming from health care workers, according to a report by the state Department of Labor and Industry.
What’s more, the department reports COVID claims filed by workers not covered by the presumption were about five times more likely to be denied.
