The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry posted a new model notice to inform providers that attempts to collect payment from injured workers are prohibited by law.
In addition to a $1,000 penalty for each attempt to collect from an injured worker, and a $2,000 penalty if the worker pays a medical bill, the notice also says the department has the authority to order a provider to reimburse costs and expenses incurred by the worker as a result of any violations.
