Job Training Voucher Gets Few Injured Employees Back to Work, DIR Says

A program that provides up to $6,000 in job training benefits to California injured workers with a permanent partial disability doesn’t seem to be accomplishing its goal, officials said last week. An assessment of the Supplemental Job Displacement Benefits voucher program suggests that “workers are not receiving education or training that leads to employment,” according to a report from the state Department of Industrial Relations. In fact, only 6% of injured workers who were eligible for the voucher and participated in a recent survey said the new job skills they gain...
