The average Idaho workers’ compensation indemnity claim severity increased by more than 6% in 2020 while the average medical claim severity fell by more than 9% over the same period, according to a National Council on Compensation Insurance State Advisory Forum released Monday.
The average indemnity claim severity increased 6.6% to $18,900 in 2020 from $17,700 in 2019. At the same time, average medical severity fell 9.3% to $27,900 from $30,700.
Claim frequency was down 0.8% in 2020 compared to 2019. NCCI reported that severity was down 10.5% in 2019 after a slight increase in 2018.
