The Washington Court of Appeals upheld a determination that a worker was not entitled to reopen his claim for a neck injury because he failed to prove that the accident contributed to his claimed mental health condition.
Dennis McGuire was hired by Boeing Co. as an inspector and a mechanic in October 2011.
In December 2012, McGuire was working in an enclosed area when a co-worker allegedly pointed a knife at his face. McGuire filed an industrial injury claim and sought benefits for post-traumatic stress disorder, which he asserted was proximately caused by the knife incident.
