A Pomona man and his former wife were arrested and charged with making false claims and attempted perjury for submitting bills for home health care services that were allegedly not needed, according to the California Department of Insurance.
Gonzalo Sandoval, 51, injured his back in 2000. His ex-wife, Socorro Lopez, 65, in 2012 filed a lien requesting $47,500 from Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. for home health services she provided Sandoval from 2010 to 2012.
In 2013, Lopez submitted an invoice to Liberty demanding $85,440 for services provided between 2010 and 2013. She received $41,000.
