Federal Defense Act Includes Firefighter Presumption

Respiratory issues and specified cancers are presumed to arise out of employment for federal firefighters with at least five years of experience, under a defense act signed by President Joe Biden. Biden on Dec. 23 signed the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2023, which included provisions of a separate measure called the Federal Firefighters Fairness Act.
