Seven months ago, the Texas Division of Workers' Compensation posted a memo reminding attorneys that accuracy is important when submitting fees for approval. It also warned that it may take “appropriate enforcement action” for incorrect bills.
Since then, the division has not announced any investigations or disciplinary actions against attorneys for fee issues, but a new list of the top 100 billers shows that the number of hours for some lawyers is higher than last year's — and still in a range that many observers find hard to believe.
