The Hawaii Senate unanimously passed a bill that would prohibit employers from denying workers’ compensation claims without reasonable cause.
The Senate on Tuesday voted 25-0 to pass SB 2364, by Sen. Jill N. Tokuda, D-Kane’ohe.
The bill would prohibit employers from denying claims without cause, or while an investigation is underway.
SB 2364 would also create a presumption that a claim is compensable when filed by a person who is excluded from coverage under the Hawaii Prepaid Health Care Act.
